Director presenting documentary at Auburn Public Theater that explores the real pain of rejection

Ruth Thomas-Suh's documentary "Reject" doesn't just concern itself with the emotional pain of shunning, ostracizing or ridiculing people, but the physical pain, as well. "At its essence it's about how we treat each other," she said. "How we speak to each other, how we treat our children — it affects us in such a deep way." Thomas-Suh's interest in the topic was inspired by the work of her father, psychiatrist Herbert E. Thomas, who authored "The Shame Response to Rejection" to explore how rejection can cause physical pain, and sometimes even precipitate violence.  Full article at www. auburnpub.com
